Life On Top of the World
(a poem about fame and fortune)
By: Eric Allen Stair
So, how is life on top of the world
is it what you thought it would be or more
everybody sees you on your lofty throne
your lofty throne of flesh and bone
you've stored all your treasures and hid them away
you've hid them where moths and mold can decay
you've built you a castle of rubble and sand
tell me, just how long can that stand
when all has been said and all has been done
your dreams will vanish like night in the sun
only what is built of truth and of gold
will stand in the end where the true heroes go
If Only We Had Lived
(a poem about abortion)
By: Eric Allen Stair
There was a meeting called in heaven today
droves of children gathered at heaven's pearly gates
they all decided on their messenger
one brown-eyed, blonde curly haired little girl
slowly she made her way to God's feet
as God looked down at his masterpiece
"Daddy, daddy, daddy," she said
"for the sake of my siblings, I have been sent"
"Yes, my child, come on up on daddy's lap," God said
as He gently kissed her little blonde head
"Daddy, we want to know what dreams you had in mind
when you sent us as gifts to all mankind
we know that evil has brought them to an end
but daddy, what would we have been if only we had lived?"
Wisdom #18
By: Eric Allen Stair
Wisdom....what is it
the pride of philosophers
the folly of generals
the epitome of society
the shock factor versus spectical
we take theory and make it fact
just because we place value in that
and we don't know why....
the say truth can't be changed
yet we're lost in the science of age
are we wiser by the minute
or dumber by the second
we're still going downward
and there's no wisdom in it
so be who you are, say what you say, think what you think
for we're only as wise as we'll ever be
Dance With Eternity
By: Eric Allen Stair
I had a dance last night
she was dressed in glimmer, jewels, and candlelight
she smelled as death, yet she beamed of life
she boasted of devils, yet posed as an angel of light
she told of those whom she'd seduced to flame
then she laughed and said my name
shocked, I turned my head and looked around
as the bitter-sweet symphony of sin played now
slowly the ground gave way beneath me
and the sky turned from pink to black
I shook my head, awakening me from my nightmare
breathing the subtleness of this subconscience trap
some dance to seduce, some dance to please
but let this serve to remind us, never dance with eternity
Love
By: Eric Allen Stair
I've heard some say love's old fashioned
and yet, some say it's never true
some hold on to it like gold
some run away from like the cold
I believe that when love is geniune and true
your heart tells you what to do
and there's no denying or hiding form it's reach
this is the love of forever that I seek
